Benchmarking about the economy

In attending an industry Board, I took the opportunity to ask how different sectors are facing the expected continuing downturn. Cost-cutting is almost universal to protect margins; and presenting the market with more affordable products is wide-spread. Good sense.

Holiday Time

You may be on holiday as I write but not everyone is. Its a really good time to be at work but not working, if you see what I mean? Catching up with those jobs you have been putting off, for example – filing, accounts, list updating, contacting neglected clients who are also available…

Pro Bono work can be valuable

As I work on drumming up Press attention to an Arts Festival and build the website for the Business Leaders Forum, I reflect on the value of such pro bono work. Its work which might simply not be done or would be much more laboriously done by others, so in that sense its valued by the organisations concerned – especially if it is effective. For me as the worker ant or for my company, it is simply satisfying and enjoyable – which is what work should be. It may also reflect well on us, which is valuable. So everybody wins!
